Frequently Asked Questions
Is there any cost to participate?
No. MusicCall is a non-profit volunteer organization. We never charge for our calls.
What personal information do you share?
For the safety and security of both our volunteer musicians and seniors who request our services, we never share your personal information other than your name and state so that we can coordinate convenient times for the calls in the local time zone where the senior and volunteer are located.
Will anyone ask for my bank or credit card information?
Never. Since our service is entirely free, a legitimate caller from MusicCall will never request any bank, credit card or other financial information.
Will I ever meet someone that I am connected to through MusicCall?
No. For everyone’s health, safety and security, MusicCall is a virtual service. Our volunteers are prohibited from meeting seniors in person.
How long does each call last?
This can vary from call to call, but typically each call lasts approximately 10-15 minutes and includes at least one or two songs which our volunteers perform for you.
Which format for calls is preferred?
We recommend using zoom when possible since both the senior and musician can see each other and the platform works on most electronic devices. If you have an IOS (Apple) device we can pair you with a volunteer who also has an IOS (Apple) device for a FaceTime video call. If you do not have a computer, tablet or smart phone capable of receiving a video call, then our volunteers can make a voice call to you.
Where is MusicCall available?
At present, we offer volunteer calls only within the United States.
Can my senior citizen home or assisted living facility request a call for me.
Absolutely. Often senior centers or assisted living facilities will help seniors receive calls from our volunteers.
